What are renewable ingredients?
Raw materials form the basis of all products that we use daily. These raw materials are extracted from all kinds of (natural) sources. For some sources, the rule is: gone=gone. The raw materials that you take from them will never grow back. An example of these non-renewable raw materials are fossil fuels, including oil and natural gas. In addition to being polluting, they are also limited in supply. Did you know, for example, that the accessible supply of oil will be exhausted within - an estimated - 40 years? And that while the global economy is still dependent on these fossil fuels.
Renewable ingredients are raw materials that come from sustainable sources that are not depleted and have the least possible impact on the environment. This means that the source replenishes itself within a relatively short period of time. You understand: for our soapies we choose exclusively renewable ingredients.
A little bit about our renewable ingredients
Ever since Marcel's Green Soap was founded, we have been working to produce our soapies as sustainably as possible. We are constantly looking for the best ingredients for you and the planet. This has resulted in a list of sustainable benefits that is getting longer and longer. In addition to smelling wonderful and working well, our soapies are microplastic-free, biodegradable and packaged in 100% recycled materials. And because we want future generations to continue to benefit from Mother Nature, we use renewable ingredients. This way, you can clean your home and skin without unnecessarily burdening the environment.
From residual waste to dishwasher tablet
Good to know: some of our renewable ingredients come from residual flows. Did you know, for example, that our dishwasher tablets and capsules are made with raw materials left over from the production of sugar? These raw materials would otherwise be thrown away. What a waste, right?! We are investigating whether we can also use these raw materials to make foaming ingredients for our hand soap, for example. In this way, we reduce the waste flow and make optimal use of what nature has to offer.
