If you have been using a plastic-free shampoo bar or body bar in the shower for a while, you probably know it: after a few months, only a few small pieces of your bar remain. It would be a shame to throw it away, of course! And luckily, you don't have to, because Marcel has a great solution for it. You're just as green as you are, but you're left with pieces of soap that you can't use anymore! We understand that frustration like no other, and that's why we went looking for the solution. We even found two!
SAVE YOUR SOAP WITH A SOAP BAG
A soap bag should definitely not be missing in your (sustainable) bathroom equipment in 2021. A soap bag is not only handy for storing your soap, but you can also wash yourself with it! How does that work? Simple: you put the last pieces of soap in the bag, let the bag with the soap in it get a little wet and you can wash your body or hair with it. This way you can even use the smallest pieces of soap bar. It doesn't get more sustainable than this!
Also, don't forget to hang your soap bag to dry after showering. That way, your soap will last the longest. The drier the bar stays between washes, the longer the bar will last. And another little tip: make sure you have 2 different soap bags on hand. One for your shampoo bar and the other for your body bar. And... if you're trying to consume less, you can also just use a (baby) sock. Or a washcloth.
USE YOUR SOAP BAR LEFTOVERS AS SHAVING CREAM
Another handy tip is to use the last bits of your soap bar as shaving foam. How does that work? Simple: wet the leftovers of your soap bar, rub the product (with a washcloth if that's easier) over the skin you want to shave and shave it baby!
If a brush is part of your shaving toolkit, you can also place the leftovers on a saucer or in a bowl and run a wet brush over them to transfer the product onto the brush.
