Great news! Marcel's Green Soap and Albert Heijn are joining forces to reduce plastic waste with a new detergent refill station. This innovation offers consumers the opportunity to refill detergents from both Albert Heijn's own brand and Marcel's Green Soap in selected Albert Heijn stores.
Every year, millions of bottles of detergent end up on the waste heap. A shame, because those bottles can be used many times. That is why we are joining forces with Albert Heijn to stimulate the use of reusable packaging. With this, we want to encourage consumers to make more sustainable choices.
How does the refill station work?
The refill station uses refill bags with a smart cap that is recognized by the system, allowing customers to easily refill their containers with the right product without spilling. This cap also keeps track of how often the container has been used and how much plastic has been saved, making consumers aware of their contribution to a cleaner planet.
Why refill at a refill station?
First of all, refilling contributes to reducing plastic waste. By using refill bags that can be reused up to 15 times, you as a consumer not only reduce your ecological footprint, but you also save on costs. How does that work? Every time you have the bag refilled at the refill station, you get a 25% discount!
The aim of this initiative goes beyond just saving plastic. We aim to make consumers aware of their impact on the environment and encourage everyone to make sustainable choices. We do this by encouraging reuse and involving consumers in reducing plastic waste.
Where are the refill stations?
Because this is a trial, we are starting with 3 refill stations in the following Albert Heijn branches:
- AH Amsterdam, Gelderlandplein 47, 1082 KZ
- AH Eindhoven, Limburglaan 2, 5652 AA
- AH The Hague, De Savornin Lohmanplein, 2566 AC
Do you live near one of these Albert Heijn branches? Then come and take a look from April 9 and try out the refill station. Good for the planet and your wallet! No refill station near you? Don't worry, Marcel's Green Soap also has detergent refills in its range. With this you save 85% plastic compared to the bottle with the same content.
