Did you know that a dishwasher tablet can help you remove stubborn stains and caked-on grease from your oven? You can find this and 4 other tips in this blog about cleaning the oven. With the smart tricks below - and a little cleaning power - you can make your oven shine like never before!
Tip 1 - Clean the oven after use
Cleaning the oven is one of those chores that you would rather put off for as long as possible. But the longer you put it off, the harder it becomes. Food residue burns deeper with every oven session. It is best to clean the oven after each use. Simply use a damp cloth with some all-purpose cleaner or dishwashing liquid, such as our new lemon & bergamot dishwashing liquid. This will also make your oven smell nice and fresh!
Tip 2 - Dishwasher tablet as oven cleaner
You can't always prevent grease, sauces or other food residues from burning in. That's why your oven needs a thorough cleaning once every three months. First clean the oven with a damp cloth to remove all crumbs and other food residues. Leave all the racks in place. Then turn the oven on to 150 degrees and in the meantime dissolve a Marcel's Green Soap dishwasher tablet (without foil) in an oven dish with a layer of water. Place the oven dish in the preheated oven and leave it in there for about 30 minutes. Then let the oven cool down and then clean it thoroughly with some warm water and a dash of all-purpose cleaner or washing-up liquid. You'll see that it's as good as new again - well, almost.
Good to know: our dishwasher tablets are EU Ecolabel certified.
Tip 3 - Natural oven cleaner
Want to go 100% natural? Make your own natural oven cleaner! The best natural oven cleaner is lemon. In addition to being a degreaser, it also neutralizes odors.
How to make a natural oven cleaner:
Cut two lemons into slices and place them in an oven dish with some water. Place the oven dish in the oven for half an hour at about 150 degrees. The lemon juice ensures that the burnt-in fat comes off more easily. Let the oven cool down for a while and then use a solution of warm water with dishwashing liquid or all-purpose cleaner to clean the oven.
Tip 4 - Cleaning the oven racks
To make the grids shine again, you can use a natural scouring pad in combination with a degreasing agent such as dishwashing liquid, all-purpose cleaner or kitchen cleaner. Just scrub vigorously and clean! If necessary, use some soda for an extra scouring effect. Don't forget to clean the grids on the side of the oven.
Tip 5 - Cleaning the oven door
And finally: the oven door. An oven door consists of multiple layers of glass that can get quite dirty through the use of the oven. What not everyone knows is that you can detach the door and take it apart. This way you can clean each layer separately, ideal! To clean the glass layers, use a kitchen cleaner spray or all-purpose cleaner spray and a damp cloth.
